π¨π΄ Colombia β A Helping Hand for Child Soldiers
Why This Project Matters
In Colombia, hundreds of rescued child soldiers have endured trauma, abuse, and forced exploitation by armed groups such as FARC and ELN. The Childrenβs Town shelter provides housing, education, therapy, and safety β but operates with minimal resources. High electricity bills are one of the greatest threats to sustainability, limiting support for reintegration programs.
The Challenge
Electricity costs consume funds that could otherwise support vocational training and post-shelter transition programs. Without additional resources, many former child soldiers face difficulties reintegrating into society and entering the workforce.
Proposed Solution
Convert a study room to run on solar power.
Optimize existing residential solar systems to lower overall costs.
Reinvest the savings into technical training, therapy, and reintegration programs.
Impact
120 child soldiers will directly benefit from better living and study conditions.
Lower electricity costs free up funds for vocational training and education.
Enhanced long-term reintegration and healing opportunities.
A sustainable pathway for children to rebuild their futures with dignity.
