John Shoust, P.Eng, MBA is the President and co-founder of Winds of Change. He is a Professional Engineer and received his MBA from Wilfrid Laurier University in 2012. John has extensive experience in several industries including automotive, aerospace, civil and biomedical engineering. He is an entrepreneur at heart with several start-ups under his belt.

Wayne Scott, P.Eng, is a retired director from the Ontario Ministry of the Environment with over four decades of engineering and legislative experience in water supply and sewage treatment. Wayne supports the project as an advisor to the student team to ensure the design is fully considered, practical, and sustainable.   He also ensures the project proceeds with awareness of local legislative requirements and global best practices.

Amy Bilton PhD, Assistant Professor in University of Toronto’s faculty of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering received her PhD in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from MIT. Amy will lead the capstone Project at the University of Toronto and provide support for the team of fourth year engineering students. 

Rob Scott, BBA is the co-founder of Winds of Change. He is a partner with Grant Thornton LLP where he leads the Canadian Advisory Services team. He has over 25 years of experience in management and technology consulting, including 15 years as a partner at with Ernst & Young and PricewaterhouseCoopers. Rob leads communication and fundraising efforts for the project.

To date, a total of twenty Mechanical and Industrial Engineering students from the University of Toronto have been part of the design and construction of the prototype windmill. 

Starting in the 2014/2015 academic year, there were four students
